Petrolia quarterback Dane Williams struck three times through the air and once on the ground as the Pirates came a score shy of doubling up on the Bulldogs 56-31 Friday night.

Alvord led off the scoring with a 9-yard Connor Patterson run with 7 minutes left in the first quarter. It was the only time the Bulldogs would own the lead.

Petrolia’s Dayton Romines broke out for a 63-yard score with 57 seconds left in the frame. A two-point conversion put the Pirates up 8-7 to end the quarter.

Crese Redman tied the score with a two-yard run, but Williams struck again through the air with 1:16 left in the half to send the Bulldogs to halftime down 6.

Petrolia hit its stride in the third, outpacing Alvord 22-10.

Conner Parker closed the game for the Bulldogs with a six-yard run with 4:22 left.

Petrolia doubled Alvord offensively, moving the ball 594 yards to Alvord’s 283. The Bulldogs spread the ball around, with Patterson, Crese Redman, Conner Parker and Alan Campbell combining for scores.
