Golf: Wells earns regional bid

Paradise’s Colton Wells fired a 79 Wednesday to win the District 9-3A individual title at River Creek Golf Course in Wichita Falls.

Wells will advance to the Class 3A Region II tournament April 11-12 at Peachtree/Oakhurst Golf Course in Bullard.

Paradise finished third as a team with a 365.

Jacksboro won the league title with a 359. Holliday took the second spot with a 361.

Bradley Young shot 92 for Paradise, Ryan Norwood 96, Hayden Barkley 98 and Tristan Sims 110.

Paradise’s second five took ninth with a 429. Drake Young fired 93, Corbin McBride 109, Morgan Wilmoth 113, Kenneth Anson 114 and Lane Upton 133.

Boyd was 10th with its 438. Creighton Witt shot 98, Conner Richardson 109, Chris Karcher 112, Jacob Karcher 119 and Davey Anderson 126.

In the girls tournament, Jacksboro won with a 393. Nocona finished second with a 440.

Paradise took fourth with its 514. Alyssa Munoz shot 106. Shelby Barclay carded 123, Sara Huitt 142 and McKeeley DuBose 143.

Boyd was fifth with a 563. Macey McCune shot 115, Abby Crohan 143, Abby Hays 149 and Cheyenne Dodson 156.
