The rematch will come Friday at Bridgeport.

“It’ll be a lot harder going to their place,” said Decatur coach Billy Garner. “We’ll try to do defensively what we planned the first time and execute offensively.”

Decatur won the first meeting 46-36 with a strong effort on the boards. Decatur held a 31-14 edge on the glass.

Decatur’s Hannah Dunning said the Lady Eagles will need to play with the same intensity Friday.

“I’m very confident in our team,” Dunning said. “We’ll need the same intensity. We need to play every possession.”

Since the loss to Decatur, Bridgeport has rattled off three lopsided wins. Bridgeport beat Springtown 52-35 Friday.

“We hope we’ve hit a spurt where we’re playing our best ball,” said Bridgeport coach Dallas Taylor. “We have a lot of young kids. They’ve now seen it, done it and are over the nerves. They are really coming together.”

Bridgeport senior guard Elaina Peyton agreed with Taylor.

“We’ve grown as a team a lot from our first game at Ponder to the first game of the second half of district,” Peyton said. “We’re ready and focused on getting the job done.”

Decatur can clinch the 8-4A title with a win Friday. The Lady Eagles entered Tuesday on a six-game winning streak.
