Baseball: Eagles start season 3-2

After winning their first three games, the Decatur Eagles closed the North Texas Tournament of Champions with losses to Paris and Sanger.

Decatur (3-2) beat Princeton (9-3), Borger (4-3) and Northside (9-1) to start the tournament.

Jaxon Terrell struck out four and limited Princeton to three runs on eight hits in five and two-thirds.

Derek Potts started a six-run second inning with a double.

Potts limited Borger to three runs – one earned – on three hits over six and two-thirds. He struck out eight.

Trey Penny, Jesus Gam and AJ Johnson knocked in two runs each against Northside.

Gam struck out eight in six innings.

Paris ended the Eagles’ winning streak with a 6-1 setback.

Micheal Hicks drove in Decatur’s only run.

Sanger beat Decatur 12-2 in the final game of the weekend.

Hicks doubled with a RBI.
