Baseball: Coleman tosses no-hitter

Corbin Coleman was unhittable Friday night.

The Bridgeport starter held Castleberry hitless over seven innings in the Bulls’ 8-0 victory.

Coleman struck out 15 and walked four.

“After the first three innings Corbin really settled into a groove and pitched great,” said his coach, Ted Leps.

The Bulls gave Coleman a lead with a run in the fourth. Bridgeport added another in the fifth and broke the game open with six in the sixth.

Mason Baker went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.

Lane Morrow doubled, tripled and knocked in a run.

DECATUR 3, SPRINGTOWN 0

The Decatur Eagles remained perfect in District 8-4A with a 3-0 victory Friday over Springtown.

Decatur’s Bryce Elder earned the win with a two-hit shutout. He struck out six.

The Eagles scored all three runs in the top of the first. AJ Johnson singled in a run. A Springtown error brought in the other two runs.

The Eagles fell to Azle 6-3 Saturday in non-district.

CHICO 7, LAKE COUNTRY 4

Cameron Weatherly struck out 11 and allowed four runs – one earned – on six hits in seven innings of the Chico Dragons’ 7-4 win over Lake Country Saturday.

Brady North homered. Jerod Blanks doubled and drove in two runs.

Chico moved to 15-0-1 with the win.

ALVORD 8, GRAFORD 2

Ethan Machac struck out eight and limited Graford to two runs on four hits in seven innings of work Friday in an 8-2 victory.

Cooper Hering tripled and drove in a pair of runs.
