Baseball: Chico finishes season unbeaten

The Chico Dragons closed out the regular season Monday unbeaten.

They moved to 23-0-1, clobbering Bryson in a doubleheader.

Chico won game one 31-2, scoring 14 runs in the first inning.

Jaston McBee homered, tripled and drove in three runs. Cameron Weatherly added three RBIs.

Chico finished with 26 hits. Every hitter collected RBIs.

In game two, Chico won 15-5. Jeremy Blanks drove in two runs. Jerod Blanks doubled and scored three times.

ALVORD 8, POOLVILLE 3

Clay Baker drove in four runs and tripled to lead the Alvord Bulldogs past Poolville Friday.

Baker’s three-run triple in the bottom of the second broke a 3-3 tie and put Alvord up for good.

Cooper Hering struck out 10 and allowed three runs – none earned – on eight hits in seven innings.

BOYD 8, CITY VIEW 0

Baylor Manire mowed down 10 City View batters in a two-hit shutout during the Boyd Yellowjackets’ 8-0 victory.

Jerrit Rawlings drove in two runs, going 2-for-4.

Boyd entered its final two games with Paradise and Bowie tied for third in District 9-3A. Boyd would clinch a playoff spot with two wins. They could clinch a play-in game with one victory.

PARADISE 10, NOCONA 0

Bryson Meyers struck out eight and shut out Nocona on six hits during the Paradise Panthers’ 10-0 win over Nocona.

Bradley Young and Bridger Skoberg doubled for the Panthers.

Paradise has clinched the second seed out of 9-3A.
