Small Town Shot

To say the least, shooting small-town football is always unpredictable. But it always gives me that down-home Americana feeling. Playing off that emotion last Friday night in Chico, this image presented itself at the halftime festivities. I really liked that all but one cheerleader is watching the band, the essence of place with the band blurred out in the background so as not to compete with my primary subject, and, best of all, the tail sticking out on the end. The colors played a great role in making this image work, with the cheerleaders color-spaced out great and the black uniforms in the background.
Shot on Nikon F5, 70-200 lens, ISO 3200, F4, 320 Shutter Speed
