CRAFTING BEE – Mount Zion Baptist Church, 615 CR 1280, in Alvord will have the MZ Bee 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23. WATERMELON FESTIVAL – The 2016 Alvord Watermelon Festival will be Aug. 12-13 at Elm Creek Park. The festival invites all vendors to participate. The cost is $20 for both days. Call Linsey Taylor, 940-399-9743.


CHAMBER LUNCHEON – The Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce luncheon is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at T Top Manufacturing, George Mitchell Parkway, in Bridgeport. Speakers include Larry Colvin, Parks and Rec Director Ryan Nolting and Bridgeport EDC Director Kevin Holzbog. They will talk about a new addition to Endeavor Park. Cost is $15. MAD SCIENCE – Chico Public Library is having Mad Science – Energy Burst! 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 28. Young scientists will learn about the transferable energy of objects, explore the energy of motion, potential versus kinetic energy and how energy can be conserved.
