The Wise County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Livestock and Forage Committee are hosting a trip to the National Western Livestock Show in Denver Jan. 11-14. What an opportunity to see the best cattle in the United States at the National Western!

During the trip, you will be able to experience the Angus and Hereford carload shows, as well as other breeds. Ranches from all over the U.S. and other countries will have breeding cattle on display for producers who develop their breeding programs on the newest and best genetics available.

Another perk of the trip will be for producers that have an interest in a beef improvement program that would involve the show cattle industry. The show cattle industry is a viable option for producers that run small herds of cattle.

While we’re there, we’ll get to view the newest show bull. These are the newest bull prospects that producers across the country will be using for their artificial insemination programs.

Registration is due Dec. 1, and cost is $300. That includes a room at double occupancy at the Embassy Suites, which features a free, made-to-order breakfast and a happy hour in the evening. They also provide a shuttle service every hour to and from the livestock show. We will have an evening meal sponsored, along with a jacket for every participant and ADM products.

The Livestock and Forage Committee will cover the travel expenses and half the cost of the rooms. Legend Bank is our evening meal sponsor, and our jacket and product sponsor is NRS and Archer Daniels Midland Co.
