Summer vacation is here.

How are you going to spend your fun in the sun?

There are several camps available for 4-H and non-4-H youth to attend close to Wise County.

County camp will be held at the Texas 4-H Center in Brownwood July 6-8. Camp is open to youth that have completed second grade through the 11th grade. County camp gives youth a full camp experience with swimming, dances, games and leadership. The cost per camper is $190. Online registration balances are due by June 14. Go to, and select register now.

Love kids? Need extra money for the summer? Babysitting might be the job for you! Join us for a Safe Sitter workshop on June 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wise County Extension Office. Safe Sitter is a medically accurate program that teaches boys and girls ages 11 to 18 how to handle emergencies when caring for children. The class teaches safety and nutrition, child care techniques, behavior management skills and appropriate responses to medical emergencies. This course sums up what every adolescent working with children needs to know in a fun, hands-on way.

We will cover choking child and CPR skills with each student. The cost of the program is $50 ($35 for current 4-H members) which will cover workbook and lunch. To register, call the Extension office at 940-627-3341.

This summer we are hosting a three-day camp where youth 8 to 19 can learn basic sewing skills through various projects. Camp will be held 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Extension office June 28-30. Cost is $40 ($25 for 4-H members). Spaces are limited.

For information on camps, call the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, 940-627-3341.
