Powerlifting: Paradise’s Beck takes eighth at state meet – Redwine finishes fourth

Paradise senior Mikeala Beck closed out her career with an eighth-place finish at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting championships Saturday.

Beck lifted 690 pounds in the 123-pound class in her second state appearance.

“She finished in eighth place and ended with her best career total,” said Paradise coach Jonathan Ryle. “It was an amazing run, and she is one of the best competitors I have seen come through Paradise – boy or girl.

“Mikeala has had a stellar powerlifting career.”

Beck recorded a squat of 255 pounds. She had a bench press of 120. Her deadlift was 315.

Beck was one of three Paradise lifters at the state meet.

Carressa McCasland finished 19th in the 114-pound division with a tally of 565. She squatted 200 with a bench press of 105 and deadlift of 260.

Kailyn Carwile took 21st in the 123-pound class with a total of 620. She finished with 250 on squat, 120 on bench and 250 on deadlift.

Chico’s Haley Pollard finished eighth in the 114-pound 2A division with a total of 605. She posted lifts of 215 on squat, 130 on bench press and 260 on deadlift. Ali York was 10th in the class with a total of 560. She lifted 220 on squat, 105 on bench and 235 on deadlift.

Jorden Vidal was 10th in the 132 division and Raven Leal 11th. Vidal had a squat of 185, bench press of 110 and deadlift of 225 for a 520 total. Leal lifted 175 on squat, 115 on bench and 205 on deadlift for a 495 tally.

Jessica Redwine garnered fourth in the 220-plus division, lifting 805. She posted a squat of 310, bench press of 170 and deadlift of 325.

Alvord’s Natalie Hofsiss took 10th in the 181 class with her total of 690. She squatted 280, benched 130 and pulled 280 on deadlift.
