Cross Country: Greyhounds capture District 22-A title

The Slidell Greyhounds captured the District 22-A title Wednesday in dominating fashion.

Led by Hunter Horner’s second-place finish, the Greyhounds put six runners in the top 10 and finished with 27 points.

Horner completed the 5K course in 19:27. Shelby Vanover finished fourth in 20:26. Dillon Fortune ran 21:06 for sixth. Kyler Carnes was seventh in 21:15. Dustin Davis crossed the finish line in eighth in 21:35 as the Greyhounds’ fifth runner.

Ben McCasland ran 21:44 for ninth and Lander Allgood 23:58 for 16th.

The Greyhounds advance to the Class A Region III race at the Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie Oct. 26.

The Greyhounds will be joined by the Lady Greyhounds, who took second at district.

Chasey Malone took second in 14:22 on the 3,200-meter course. Kayson Roof finished third in 14:57. Sydney Keating was sixth in 15:53. Lisbet Licea came in ninth in 17:15 as the Lady Greyhounds’ fifth runner. Bailey Meyer was 10th in 17:20.
