Young teen possibly trapped in burning home

Tragedy struck a Chico home early this morning. Shortly after 4 a.m. a fire was reported at a home located in the 100 block of CR 1639 near Lake Bridgeport’s Wise County Park. A 14-year-old boy who lives at the home was believed to be trapped in a room inside. Firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke pouring from the roof. It’s deemed a total loss. The father of the boy was transported to the hospital for burns. The boy’s mother and a two-year-old sibling were also transported. As of 6:30 a.m. a body had not been found as firefighters from several departments continue to try and extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Wise County Medics set up a rehab area for firefighters. The firefighters were working to put out the fire in 15 degree weather as snow started to build up on the frozen ground.
