A two-vehicle wreck just after 4 p.m. Wednesday near downtown Decatur resulted in no major injuries but did close a major road. Decatur Police Chief Rex ┬áHoskins said Precinct 2 Constable Larry Short was northbound on South Cowan Street when he ran a stop sign at the intersection with West Main Street. Short’s county pickup struck the front passenger side corner of a westbound passenger car driven by Tristyn ┬áHand, 23, of Chico. The impact sent Short’s vehicle into an electrical pole, which was pushed several feet at the base, and Hand’s vehicle ended up in a nearby vacant lot on the north side of West Main. Short’s truck also took out a stop sign on the north end of the intersection. The fire department remained on the scene as of 4:55 p.m. awaiting the arrival of the electric company to tend to the damaged pole.
