WASHER TOURNEY SETS RECORD – The “Put Yo Money Where Yo Mouth Is” washer tournament at the Wise County Old Settlers Reunion drew teams from as far away as Florida on its way to setting the world record for the largest tournament with 243 teams. Organizer Carey Williams said they will have to wait as long as 90 days for the record to become certified as a Guinness record.

TONIGHT AT REUNION – The Wise County Old Settlers Reunion enters its third day, and tonight’s entertainment at 7 features The Hinkles followed by Rick Bowling and Roland Upton, “Ric and Rol.” Carnival ride bracelets are $15, and parking is $5.

HOT ASPHALT SPILLED IN WRECK – The on-ramp to U.S. 81/287 North from U.S. 380 in Decatur was closed for six hours Tuesday afternoon while crews cleaned up hot asphalt spilled from an overturned 18-wheeler. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries in the wreck that occurred just after 12:30 p.m. According to investigators, Frank Taylor of Benbrook was westbound on U.S. 380 when he attempted to exit onto northbound U.S. 81/287. He lost control of the 18-wheeler, and it overturned. Hot asphalt, oil and diesel spilled onto the roadway and into the surrounding grass. Decatur firefighters shoveled piles of dirt onto the roadway to prevent the contents from spreading. Texas Department of Transportation and a hazmat crew were called to the scene to aid in clean-up efforts. Speed is believed to be a factor in the wreck.

BENEFIT RODEO – A Benefit Youth Rodeo for Dane Lancaster’s family will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 2 at the Dave Wiley Covered Arena at Montague County Cowboy Church, 1600 W. Farm Road 455 in Montague. All proceeds will benefit the Dane Lancaster Family. Events will include barrels, poles, goats, flags, breakaway, ribbon roping, tie down, calf riding, steer riding, chute dogging and team roping. There are five age groups. Awards will be saddles for all around, buckles, and numerous other prizes. All entries to be called in 7-10 p.m. Monday, July 28, 254-918-0835. No walk ups. VOLLEYBALL CAMP – The Bridgeport Sissies volleyball camp is July 28-30 at Bridgeport Middle School. Fourth through eighth grade registration is 8:30 a.m. with camp 9-11:30 a.m. Freshman camp is 1-4 p.m. with registration at 12:30 p.m. More information can be found on the district’s web page under sports camps.

BLOOD DRIVE – The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society “Team Rehab” will host a Carter Blood Drive 9:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Aaron’s Sales and Leasing in Decatur. “Team” bracelets will be given to the first 10 donors, and they can enter to win a $25 Wal-Mart gift card. Bone marrow testing kits will also be available at no cost to interested participants.

BRIDGEPORT PHYSICALS – Physicals will be offered for $20 at the Bridgeport High School Training Room Thursday. Girls are to report at 5 p.m. and boys at 6 p.m. All athletes entering grades seven, nine and 11 must have a physical before the first day of practice for their sport. Any athlete who has had a broken bone, concussion, major illness or surgery in the past 12 months must also get a physical.

BOYD PHYSICALS – Physicals will be offered for $10 for Boyd middle school and high school male and female athletes from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Boyd field house.

DECATUR EAGLE FOOTBALL CAMP – Decatur football coach Mike Fuller and his staff will hold a skills camp for players between grades seven and nine from 7-9 p.m. July 28-31 at Eagle Stadium. The cost is $80 and $60 for each additional family member.
