BASKETBALL PLAYER KILLED – The 16-year-old Northwest student killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday evening near the high school has been identified as Katelyn ShyAnn Hooper of Haslet. Hooper was driving a passenger car traveling south on Farm Road 156 when it was struck by a northbound three-quarter ton pickup. It appears the driver of the pickup, 31-year-old April Seleska of Denton, lost control and crossed the centerline. Seleska and a passenger in Hooper’s car, Brianna Christensen of Haslet, were transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth with serious injuries. Hooper and Christensen were both players on the Northwest girls varsity basketball team. Additional counseling staff was to be on hand today as students return to class.
