PROPERTY AUCTION – The Wise County Appraisal District and the Wise County Tax Office are selling approximately 100 tracts of real property 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Grand Hall A at the Decatur Civic Center. Many properties have a $250 minimum bid. The properties are listed online at isouthwestdata.com (select Wise CAD, Downloads and Forms, Tax Sale). Bid packets are also available at the tax and appraisal district offices.

INCE FAMILY BENEFIT – The Bridgeport Correctional Center is hosting a silent auction to benefit the Ince family. Proceeds will go toward funeral expenses for Stephen Ince, who was killed in a car accident last week. Several officers have donated three hours of their time to perform minor home improvements or yard work, which will be awarded to the highest bidder. All assigned tasks must be within reason. The list of participating officers has not yet been finalized, but for more information or to place bids, call the center at 940-683-3010. The auction will close July 15, and winning bidders will be notified July 16. Stephen’s mother, Sheila Ince, is a nurse at the correctional center.

ZOONIVERSITY – This week’s Summer Special at the Decatur Public Library features Zooniversity the Teaching Zoo 10:30 a.m. to noon today. The free show is appropriate for kids ages 5 to 10. CHICO CHAMBER – The Chico Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon today at the Senior Citizens Building on the west side of the Chico Square. Lunch is $7 a plate. County Clerk Sherry Lemon will be guest speaker.

IMMUNIZATION CLINIC – The Texas Department of State Health Services will sponsor an immunization clinic 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church, 1200 Preskitt Road, in Decatur. Parents are asked to bring the child’s shot record. Participants must be VFC eligible.

JP OFFICES CLOSED – Justice of the peace offices in Precincts 2 and 4 will close early today and will remain closed through Friday for training. The Precinct 2 office in Decatur will close at 11 a.m., and the Precinct 4 office will close at noon.

SNAKE ENCOUNTERS – Daryl Sprout with Snake Encounters will introduce his creepy reptilian friends to the Bridgeport Public Library’s summer readers at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the community center, 1102 Lawdwin Ave. The program is free and open to the public. MOTHER-SON POOL PARTY – All mothers and sons are invited to the 2nd Annual Ice Cream and Pool Party at the Bridgeport City Pool 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. DEDICATION POSTPONED – The dedication of a historical marker for the Dallas Pacific and Southeastern Railroad on County Road 3555 that was scheduled for Sunday, July 13, has been postponed until Sept. 7.

BIKE RALLY – The 2nd Annual Eighter from Decatur Bicycle Rally is Aug. 2, starting at Decatur Airport. Register early at active.com or by calling 940-626-3006. On-site registration is 7 a.m. the day of the ride, which starts at 8. There will be 8-, 25- and 55-mile rides with free lunch for riders. Cost is $5 for non-riders.
