BANNER FOR DANE – The community is invited to join the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, Wise County Emergency Medical Services and iCopy in signing a get well banner for Dane Lancaster. The banner will be outside the Sheriff’s Office at 200 Rook Ramsey Dr. in Decatur today and Friday. Lancaster, 11, of Bowie was badly injured in a roping accident May 24. His horse tripped and fell on him causing multiple head and facial fractures with swelling and bleeding on the brain. Dane is the son of Drs. Diran and Kellie Lancaster, who own Lancaster Back and Joint Clinic in Decatur. He’s hospitalized at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

AMERICA’S PASTIME – James Wood Motors in Decatur will honor Wise County Special Needs Baseball Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Texas Rangers’ Six Shooters and former Rangers second baseman Mark McLemore will be available for autographs noon to 1 p.m., and the Rangers Captain will be there for photos, too. Free hot dogs and cold drinks will be served.

VETERANS BREAKFAST – Wise County Veterans Group will have it’s weekly breakfast 8 a.m. Saturday at the Decatur Civic Center. All Wise County Veterans are invited.

4-H CAR WASH – Slidell and area 4-Hers will have a car wash 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Auto Zone in Decatur to raise money for their summer activities, like round-up, leaderlab, state congress and more.

BLOOD DRIVE – Anthony Spinelli will host a blood drive at Boyd High School noon-6 p.m. Tuesday, June 24. Visit redcrossblood.org to schedule your appointment. Use sponsor code: boyhs.

GOLF SCRAMBLE – Wise County Special Needs Baseball is having a four-person scramble Friday at The Club at Runaway Bay. Cost is $100 per person or $400 per team. There will be a putting contest at 12:15 p.m., and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. A meal, awards, raffle and a silent auction will follow play. All proceeds will help build a custom-designed, rubberized, latex-free field that accommodates wheelchairs and other devices while helping prevent injury.

FUNERAL for J.W. Lefler, 85, of Decatur is 2 p.m. today at Cornerstone Baptist Church with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Coker-Hawkins is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Dr. Edward P. Maddox III, 91, of Decatur is 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Decatur with graveside service at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Coker-Hawkins.

FUNERAL for Carl W. Steward, 91, of Del City, Okla., is 2 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial at Chico Cemetery. Family visitation is 1-2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
