Storms rolled through Wise County Thursday morning, leaving residents across the area without power.

Sabrina Easley, area manager at Oncor Electric Delivery, said outages had been reported in Alvord, Newark, Rhome and Boonsville/Balsora.

The largest is a widespread outage in Rhome and Newark, where 1,300 customers are without power following a lightning strike.

In Alvord, 91 customers along Hubbard Street and U.S. 287 reported a loss of power.

Five customers in the Boonsville/Balsora area also called in.

All calls came in around 10 a.m. As of just before noon, Easley said servicemen were at the scene of each outage to determine the problem.

“We have no reports as to the cause or estimated time of restoration yet,” Easley said. “We¬†should know shortly.”
