A section of U.S. 81/287 in Decatur will be reduced to one lane 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 17, for maintenance.
The Texas Department of Transportation plans to work on the northbound lanes of 287 from Business 380 to the U.S. 380 overpass. Motorists should expect delays.
TxDOT public information officer, Natalie Galindo, said Wednesday work will be done to improve the traction on that stretch of roadway. This section of 287 has been the site of many accidents, most of which have involved 18-wheelers.
The most recent wreck was Sunday when a tractor-trailer traveling northbound on 287, near the 380 exit, crashed through the cement barrier into the southbound lanes. One of its fuel tanks broke loose, striking a southbound pickup driven by an Alvord man, who is recovering from his injuries at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
