LOCAL RIDER WINS PBR EVENT – Mike Lee of Decatur won Saturday night’s J.W. Hart PBR Challenge in front of a sold-out crowd. Fans were treated to a wild ride as he scored 91 points on Bruiser. Neither J.B. Mauney nor J.W. Harris held on for the $25,000 prize in the head-to-head challenge at the end of the night. Mauney didn’t ride Asteroid, and Shepherd Hills Tested made quick work of Harris. After gutsy rides, all six “celebrities” were awarded $500 for their charities of choice.

BOOSTER CLUB MEETING – The Decatur Football Booster Club’s first meeting of the year is 6 tonight at the Decatur High School lecture room. All who plan on being a part of the upcoming football season need to attend.

BENEFIT ACCOUNT – A benefit account for Dane Lancaster has been opened at Legend Bank. Lancaster was seriously injured in a roping accident May 24. He remains in the pediatric intensive care unit at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

RELAY WRAP-UP – The final meeting for teams that participated in this year’s Relay For Life of Wise County is 6:30 tonight at Candlewood Suites in Decatur. Top fundraisers will be recognized, and teams will be invited to share their feedback on this year’s event as well as ideas for next year. For information, call Stephanie at 940-393-3165.

CEMETERY HOMECOMING – The Garvin Cemetery Association Homecoming is noon Sunday with a covered dish lunch followed by the business meeting. Call 940-433-2731 for more information.

ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP – The Alzheimer’s (and related dementia) support group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the boardroom at the Wise Regional Health System west campus in Decatur. The group is for the people who are caring for folks with dementia. For more information, call Richard at 940-255-0244.

CLAY SHOOT FUNDRAISER – Devon Energy will host the “7th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot” at Fossil Pointe Sporting Grounds on Friday, June 20. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the shoot starting at 9. The cost is $500 for a five-person team, and all proceeds benefit the United Way. ADULT ART CLASS – Create your own art pieces this summer with soft dough sculpture, embroidery and more at Decatur Public Library. Beginning today, the class meets Mondays, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., for 10 weeks and features a variety of 3-D art styles. It is taught by local artist Alexandra Dupuis. FUNERALS – Service for Hazel Sherman, 89, of Decatur is 10 a.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Ronnie Gerhart, 75, of Chico is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
