PRINCIPAL HIRING ON AGENDA – Decatur High School’s new principal is expected to be named at tonight’s school board meeting. Former principal Jason Cochran was named superintendent at Eastland ISD last month, after six years at DHS. The meeting, which is open to the public, begins at 6 p.m. with a closed session followed by an open session at 7 p.m. The board will meet at the DISD Administration Building, 307 S. Cates St.
WARM CLOSED – WARM (Wise Area Relief Mission) will be closed today through Friday. Normal distribution times will resume Tuesday, June 24.
FIELD TRIP – The Wise County Genealogical Society is going to the Dallas County Public Library to work in their genealogical section Thursday. The group will be departing at 9 a.m. from Decatur Church of Christ. Bring a sack lunch and a $5 donation to the driver for gas. The group will return at 2 p.m.
HITTING THE RIGHT NOTES – Learn Finale, a free music notation software, at Decatur Public Library 6:15-7:45 tonight. The free class, taught by composer and conductor Carol Lynn Mizell, will cover the basics of Finale to make your music look professionally printed. BACK THE BLUE TOURNAMENT – The Decatur Police Department and the Decatur Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association are accepting team registration for the 2nd annual Back The Blue Co-Ed Softball Tournament to be held Saturday, June 28, at Jones Park located next to the Country Club in Decatur. SOCIETY MEETING – The Wise County Fossil, Rock and Mineral Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Decatur Wesley Center. Guest speaker Dee Ann Archer will give the program “Machu Picchu, Sacred City, Marvel of the World.” A pot luck dinner will be served, and visitors are welcome.
DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP – Wise Regional Health System, the Wise and Montague County Medical Society and Renew Home Health will host a Diabetes Support Group 6:30 tonight in the Education Room of the hospital in Decatur. Dr. Brad Faglie will host a question-and-answer session on the trials and triumphs of living with diabetes and plans of action. If you have diabetes or know someone with diabetes, you are invited. If it’s your first meeting, come at 6:15 to meet Dr. Faglie and get an introduction to the basics.
