EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS - Rainfall totals from early Sunday morning include 0.56 of an inch in Bridgeport, 0.5 in Rhome and 0.47 in Decatur. A 20 percent chance of thunderstorms remains in today’s forecast with a high of 96 expected.

DEMOCRATIC MEETING – The Wise County Democratic Party will meet 6:15 tonight in the Wise County Law Enforcement Center courtroom, 200 Rook Ramsey Dr. in Decatur.

DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP – Wise Regional Health System, the Wise and Montague County Medical Society and Renew Home Health will host a Diabetes Support Group 6:30 tonight in the Education Room of the hospital in Decatur. Dr. Brad Faglie will host a question-and-answer session on the trials and triumphs of living with diabetes and plans of action. If you have diabetes or know someone with diabetes, you are invited. If it’s your first meeting, come at 6:15 to meet Dr. Faglie and get an introduction to the basics.

BARBECUE COOKOFF – The Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual cook-off Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Northwest OHV park. Cook-off entries are currently being taken. This year’s event will include a Local Bragging Rights section and a Kid’s Porkchop Cook-off. Raffle tickets are also available for several items. Call Chief Terry Long, 940-210-9495.

POOL PARTY - A back-to-school pool party for sixth, seventh and eighth graders is 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday at Bridgeport City Pool. Advance tickets are $3 and are available at city hall and the city pool. Tickets at the event are $5. Call 940-683-3480.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING – The Bridgeport Historical Society meets today at Weatherford College Wise County. Lunch will be served at 11:30, and Virginia Wood will give a program on early Bridgeport pioneer James. A. Proctor.

DECATUR SCHOOL BOARD – The Decatur School Board tonight is expected to make a decision on applying a new grade point average policy to incoming sophomores as well as freshman. In other business, the board will hear a report on the preliminary school accountability ratings recently released by the Texas Education Agency. The public portion of the school board meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the DISD Administration Building, 307 S. Cates.

BRIDGEPORT SCHOOL BOARD – The Bridgeport School Board will discuss baseball dugouts and football field and agriculture science animal barn renovations at its meeting tonight. The board will also hear a monthly finance report, go over the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, review updated Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) policies, discuss each campus’s electronic message boards and hear a superintendent’s report. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the conference room at 2107 15th St. and is open to the public.

CHICO SCHOOL BOARD – The Chico School Board will hold a public hearing on its proposed budget and tax rate at tonight’s meeting. Following the public hearing, the board is expected to approve the items. The meeting, which is open to the public, is at 6:30 p.m. in Room 150 at Chico Elementary School, 1120 Park Road.

DECATUR CITY COUNCIL – The Decatur City Council will meet at 4 this afternoon to talk about the proposed budget for fiscal 2014-2015. A regular council meeting will follow at 6 p.m. On the agenda for that meeting is a public hearing on the proposed property tax rate, scheduling hearings on the proposed budget, and a special use permit extension, requested by Double Creek Capital to facilitate the sale of property on Preskitt Road for a funeral home.

LADY EAGLES FINISH SEVENTH — As the lone 4A school in the prestigious Adidas Texas Volleyball Invitational in Pearland, Decatur finished seventh, going 5-3. Decatur fell to Pearland in the quarterfinals Saturday, 25-19, 25-18. Alamo Heights held off Decatur 23-25, 25-19, 15-9. Northwest went 2-5 at the event. The Lady Texans beat Houston Episcopal, 25-23, 25-16, Saturday.

FUNERALS – No service is scheduled for Jo Celeste Adcock, 83, of Chico. Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

MASS of Christian burial for Porfirio Fraga-Solis, 54, of Bridgeport is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Johns Catholic Church with burial at The Mexican Cemetery in Bridgeport. Rosary will be said at 7 tonight at Hawkins Chapel.

SERVICES for Gloria Jean Hughes Hall, 82, of Saint Jo and Oletha Davis, 87, of Bridgeport are pending at Hawkins-Bridgeport.

FUNERAL for Kent L. Partain, 63, of Chico is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery, Family visitation is 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Raynette Wilson, 78, of Decatur is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Coker-Hawkins is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Kenneth Emmerson, 83, of Highland Village is pending at Coker-Hawkins.
