ENIS LEAVING ALVORD - Curtis Enis is leaving Alvord after accepting the girls basketball coach position at Burleson High School. Enis resigned from Alvord Wednesday. His wife, Rhonda, also will leave her post as girls track coach in Alvord to become an assistant at Burleson in basketball and track. She will tender her resignation after signing a contract with Burleson. Enis, who was in his second tenure at the school, leaves after a turbulent spring in which the Alvord ISD trustees failed to extend his contract with a 3-3 vote. Later, the board stripped the athletic director role from him with a unanimous vote.

BENEFIT ACCOUNT – An account has been opened for the family of Stacey Bernal at DATCU in Decatur. Bernal, of Decatur, died last week after battling breast cancer.

RECEPTION – First State Bank in Chico is hosting a reception honoring Berniece Bailey and Perry Johnson for their years of service to the bank 4-6 p.m. today at the Chico Senior Citizens Center on the west side of the Chico Square.

ALVORD FOOTBALL – Alvord Youth Football Association will hold flag football signups for grades Pre-K to 2nd and football for grades 3rd to 6th at the elementary gym 5-7 p.m. today, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. YARD SALE POSTPONED – The Rhome Senior Yard Sale has been moved from this weekend to July 3-5 due to weather.

GREENWOOD EXTENSION – The Greenwood Extension Education Club will have its monthly meeting 11 a.m. today at the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department. For information, call Janice Millican at 940-627-4220.

4TH FEST – The Greater Runaway Bay Alliance is holding its annual 4th Fest from 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday. A community fish fry and games for children will be at The Bay Church. There will also be a golf tournament at 9 a.m. that day. Tournament signup is at the Club at Runaway Bay. A fireworks show will take place at dusk.

TALKING QUILTS – The Heritage Place at Decatur will host a Talking Quilt Show 9 a.m.-4 p.m. today at the Decatur Senior Center, 1200 N. Miller. A plate lunch will be served for $3. Door prizes will be given away. More than 20 quilts, each with a story, will be on display.

FUNERALS – Service for Jerry Caudill, 62, of Wichita Falls is 2 p.m. to day at the Chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at East Bridgeport Cemetery.

SERVICE for Clarence D. Cook, 96, of Bridgeport is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

GRAVESIDE service for Herman McCasland, 75, formerly of Bridgeport is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at West Bridgeport Cemetery. Hawkins-Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Mavine Hardage Meason, 68, of Boyd is noon Saturday at Hawkins-Bridgeport with burial at Anetta Cemetery near Weatherford. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

MEMORIAL service for Jay Yarbrough, 71, of Boyd is 2 p.m. Sunday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd.

MASS of the Resurrection for Michael Schane, 56, of Paradise, is noon Saturday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Richland Hills. Biggers Funeral Home in Lake Worth is handling arrangements.
