WINTRY MIX POSSIBLE SUNDAY – It will be a beautiful day today with mostly sunny skies and a high near 70 degrees. But that’s expected to change by Sunday when a cold front moves through the area. The National Weather Service is calling for a 40 percent chance of sleet or freezing rain with a high of 36 degrees Sunday.

PARADISE HEADS TO ALVORD – The Paradise Lady Panthers and Alvord Lady Bulldogs will square off in Alvord at 6:30 tonight in a pivotal game in the District 9-2A playoff race. Paradise leads Alvord by a game for second place in the league. Follow the action with live updates on Twitter @wcmsports. Also read a full recap of the game and the boys action at www.wcmsports.com. In other Wise County action, Bridgeport heads to Sanger. Boyd plays at Brock. Northwest visits Richland. Decatur and Slidell teams are off.

LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE – The Bridgeport Library will host an open house 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4. Stop by to see the remodeled facility.

GROUP PLAY EVENT – The Decatur Public Library will host K2 Play, a monthly playgroup for children in kindergarten through second grade, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4. Children will enjoy a short story, sensory activities and games. No signup is required. Call the library at 940-393-0290 for more information.

YOUTH FAIR DEADLINES – 2014 Wise County Youth Fair entries are due by 5 p.m. Saturday. If you have questions or need help, contact the WCYF secretary at 940-389-5388 or your Ag, FCCLA or 4H leaders. Youth Fair Queen contest entry forms are due and must be postmarked by Saturday. Entry forms can be found on the Wise County Youth Fair web site at wcyouthfair.org. Youth Fair scholarships are due and must be postmarked by Feb. 7. Applications can be found on the Wise County Youth Fair web site.

VETERANS BREAKFAST - The Wise County Veterans Group will hold its weekly breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Decatur Civic Center. All Wise County veterans are invited.

CHAMBER LUNCHEON – Today is the last day to RSVP to the Paradise Chamber of Commerce luncheon, which is noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at City Hall. Lunch is $10 a plate.

RABBIT VALIDATION – Wise County rabbit validation for the Youth Fair is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Wise County Extension office. All rabbits that will be shown in the fair need to be there. For information, call Melissa Haworth at 940-210-1254.

DECATUR BASEBALL – The Decatur Baseball League will extend the Spring season registration for one more day. Parents can sign up their child at Decatur City Hall 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. This will be the last day to register due to deadlines the league must meet for uniform orders. Bring your player with you for uniform fittings as well as their birth certificate. BRIDGEPORT BOX OFFICE – The Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Department presents the Bridgeport Box Office showing of “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2″ Saturday at the Bridgeport Stage. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the free movie begins at 7.

DRAG QUEEN CONTEST – The Senior Class of Alvord High School will hold a Drag Queen Contest tonight during the Varsity Lady Bulldog/Bulldog basketball games at AHS. All contestants will be students at Alvord High School. The queens that collect the most money will be awarded gift cards. All proceeds will benefit the Class of 2014 Project Graduation.

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE – Decatur Junior Woman’s Club 8th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance, “One Enchanted Evening,” is 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Decatur Civic Center. Tickets will be available at the door.

SUPPER AND AUCTION - The Forestburg Community Service club will have a supper and auction 6 p.m. Saturday at the Forestburg School. Soup and chili with all the fixings will be served, $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. A live auction featuring hand crafted items and services from Forestburg craftsmen will follow the meal. All proceeds go toward maintaining and upkeep of the community.
