Fire ripped through a vacant house east of Decatur on County Road 4511 early Thursday morning.
East Wise, Rhome and Decatur firefighters battled the blaze that was toned out shortly before 3 a.m.
By the time firefighters made the scene, flames had fully engulfed the single-story structure.
“It was a total loss when we got on scene,” said East Wise firefighter Travis Hull, who held command at the scene. “There was nothing to into.”
As firefighters mopped up the scene there was no early indication of what ignited the fire. Hull said there was a power line down on the back corner.
