Wise County Fire Marshal Chuck Beard confirmed at 11:30 a.m. Thursday that a body was recovered from the Chico home that burned earlier in the day.

Beard said he presumes it’s the body of the 14-year-old that was believed to be trapped inside, but he’s awaiting confirmation from the Dallas County Medical Examiner.

The boy’s stepfather, Johnny Hothouse, was originally taken to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur but will be transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. The boy’s mother, Kimberly Wrisner, and little brother, Diesel Hothouse, 2, were also transported from the scene to WRHS but were released before noon.

Beard said the fire is still under investigation, but it appears to be accidental.
