The Decatur Lady Eagles held their own against some of the state’s best over the weekend at the PSA Lone Star Circle of Champions Tournament in Murphy.
The Lady Eagles went 3-3, scoring wins over Allen, Sachse and Grapevine. Decatur suffered a pair of losses to Prosper and one against Austin Westlake.
Decatur hit .230 for the tournament, as Caroline Lowery put down 68 kills, Cooper Martin added 58 and Makayla Mayfield 41.
Setter Stormi Leonard handed out 129 assists.
At the service line, Mayfield had 11 aces, and Lowery 10.
Mayfield also made 71 digs. Lowery recorded 69, and Leonard 59.
Decatur started the tournament with a come-from-behind, three-game win over the fourth-ranked team in 6A, Allen, 23-25, 25-23, 25-15.
Prosper then took down the Lady Eagles 24-26, 25-20, 25-15.
Decatur closed out pool play with a 25-14, 25-19 sweep of Sachse.
In the crossover match, Decatur beat Grapevine 25-14, 25-16.
Austin Westlake then outlasted the Lady Eagles in three games, 25-22, 17-25, 27-25.
Decatur closed their stay in Murphy with a 20-25, 25-20, 25-13 loss to Prosper.
The Lady Eagles returned to action Tuesday with a match against 6A Keller Fossil Ridge.
