Texans fall to Volunteers in bi-district battle

Arlington Bowie cut the Texans’ playoff run short Tuesday night in Colleyville.

The Volunteers won 47-45 over Northwest (23-7, 10-5) to secure the bi-district title.

The Texans went into the bi-district game as District 4-5A’s third seed after beating out Fossil Ridge.

The Texans won the tipoff to start the first period but fell behind by three.

Northwest quickly passed the Volunteers in the second with an explosive effort by Josh Tatum.

Tatum led the night’s scorers with 15 points, 12 of which were secured in the second.

Northwest was able to end the half ahead 23-16 over Arlington Bowie.

Both teams paced each other in the third, but the Texans lost their momentum in the fourth, only scoring nine points to the Volunteers’ 19.

Arlington Bowie was able to come back from an 8-point deficit at the start of the fourth to win.

A final 3-point buzzer beater by Tatum brought the Texans within two points of Arlington Bowie to end the game.
