Texan relays make regionals

The Northwest swimming team will send five relays to the Class 5A Region I meet Feb. 7 and 8 at the Pete Ragus Aquatic Center in Lubbock.

The Texans’ five relays posted top-six finishes Saturday at the 5-5A meet held in Southlake at the Carroll ISD Aquatics Center.

The Northwest boys 200 medley squad of Jare DeVries, Cole Watts, Brandon Langer and Trey Bailey finished fourth in 1:51.22.

Langer, Bailey and DeVries joined Bashir Dennis on the 200 freestyle relay, which also finished fourth in 1:37.74. That same quartet took fifth in the 400 relay in 3:40.84.

The Northwest girls 200 freestyle relay team of Kendal Irwin, Blue Davis, Genevieve Weaver and Audry McCreary finished fifth in 1:52.37. That group also finished fifth in the 400 relay in 4:14.63.
