Softball Roundup: Sissies stay perfect

The Bridgeport Sissies improved to 4-0 on the season Friday with a second straight final at-bat victory.

Bridgeport scored two runs in the top of the seventh to beat Castleberry 6-5.

A sacrifice fly by Taylor Jamieson drove in Makayla Raymond for the winning run.

Kensley Turner and Jamieson knocked in three runs each for the Sissies.

Hailey Hollingsworth picked up the win, striking out six and allowing five runs – three earned – in seven innings.

The Boyd Lady Yellowjackets went 3-2 over the weekend at the NCTC Tournament.

Boyd closed the tournament in Gainesville with a 4-2 loss, as Callisburg scored two in the fifth to get the win.

The Lady Yellowjackets (9-2) hammered Valley View 19-0 and 9-2A rival Ponder 6-1.

Against Valley View, Chelsea Arlington drove in three runs. Chandler Hammon and Savannah Foster scored three runs each.

In the win against Ponder, Boyd plated four runs in the third to take a 5-1 lead. Hammon finished 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Brittney Howard hit a home run and doubled in three at-bats.

The Paradise Lady Panthers took two of three over the weekend at the Jacksboro Tournament to win their bracket.

The Lady Panthers closed the tournament with an 18-1 win over Olney.

Shelby Lavigne held the Lady Cubs hitless in three innings, striking out five.

Reagan Taylor and Madi Horne drove in three runs each.

Taylor also tossed a four-inning, hitless gem in the 6-0 win over Jacksboro, striking out eight.

Jett Preather doubled twice and knocked in three.

Paradise started the tournament with a 6-5 win over Archer City, scoring three runs in the fourth for the victory.

Taylor and Preather scored on an error in the fourth to put Paradise on top. Taylor tripled and drove in a run.

Millsap handed Paradise its lone setback of the tournament, 11-6. Millsap plated six in the third.

The Northwest Lady Texans ended the Brewer Tournament on a positive note, beating Joshua, 7-2, and Kennedale, 3-0.

Against Joshua, Brianna Barnhill doubled twice, going 4-for-4, and knocking in three runs.

In the win over Kennedale, Northwest scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth. Sydnee Hinkle and Tuesday DerMargosian got two hits each and scored a run.

Catherine Totty and Emily Worley combined to hold Kennedale scoreless over seven innings. Totty held Kennedale hitless in three innings, striking out three.
