Softball Roundup: Sanger beats Decatur

The Decatur Lady Eagles fell to Sanger 13-8 in the regular season finale Friday.

Sanger led 10-8 after six and put the game away with three runs in the top of the seventh.

Decatur will move on to the Class 3A Region II playoffs as the fourth seed out of 9-3A. The Lady Eagles will take on 10-3A champion Frisco Lone Star in a bi-district series. Game one is in Decatur at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The second game is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Frisco Lone Star.

BROCK 8, BOYD 5

The Boyd Lady Yellowjackets couldn’t battle back from an early deficit Friday, falling to Brock 8-5.

Brock scored four runs in the bottom of the first and held on for the win.

With the loss, Boyd (22-6, 9-3) ended 9-2A as the third seed. The Lady Yellowjackets will open the 2A Region II playoffs against Maypearl at 7 p.m. Thursday at Aledo High School. Game two is at 7 p.m. Friday at Weatherford College. The third game, if necessary, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Aledo.

Payton Salmon went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs against Brock. Amber Bowen added a pair of hits and two RBIs.

Boyd had 11 hits.
