Softball Roundup: Saldivar homers twice as Boyd beats Peaster

Gabby Saldivar belted a pair of home runs Tuesday as the Boyd Lady Yellowjackets routed the Peaster Lady Greyhounds 13-7.

Saldivar hit a two-run homer as part of a six-run first for the Lady Yellowjackets. She added another two-run shot in the sixth.

Kassidy Lester also homered for Boyd (18-5, 5-2), which had 10 extra-base hits. Amber Bowen doubled three times, going 3-for-4.

Saldivar earned the win in the circle, allowing six runs – one earned – on nine hits. She struck out four and walked one.


The Northwest Lady Texans ended their two-game slide in District 4-5A Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Fossil Ridge.

Brie Wrobel’s two-run double in the top of the sixth pushed the Lady Texans (13-11, 5-4) to the win.

Sydnee Hinkle and Haley Rhine added doubles for the Lady Texans.

Emily Worley held Fossil Ridge to two unearned runs on five hits over seven innings. She struck out six and walked three.


The Bridgeport Sissies fell to under .500 for the season Tuesday with a 13-2 loss to the Gainesville Lady Leopards.

Gainesville scored five runs in the first and added three in the third and fourth innings. The Lady Leopards pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of five Bridgeport errors in five innings.

Tabby Rivera doubled and scored one of the two Bridgeport runs. Makayla Raymond scored the other and stole a base.

Bridgeport (9-10) fell to 0-4 in District 9-3A play.


Sanger scored nine runs in the first two innings and never looked back Tuesday, beating Decatur 16-2.
