Softball Roundup: Lady Yellowjackets open 9-2A with a pair of victories

The Boyd Lady Yellowjackets opened District 9-2A play with a pair of blowouts.

Boyd hammered Peaster 11-1 Friday and blew out Millsap 25-0 in three innings Monday.

Against Peaster, Boyd scored four runs in the first and five in the second to build a quick 9-0 lead.

Chelsea Arlington drove in three, going 2-for-3. Brittney Howard and Payton Salmon added two RBIs each on three hits apiece. Salmon doubled twice. Savannah Foster went 4-for-4 and scored three times.

Arlington allowed one unearned run on two hits and struck out five.

Monday, the Lady Yellowjackets scored 11 runs in each of the first two innings on the way to the 25-0 win over Millsap.

Amber Bowen, Howard and Chandler Hammon drove in three runs each.

Gabby Saldivar pitched three hitless and scoreless innings.

BROCK 12, ALVORD 0

The defending District 9-2A champion Brock Lady Eagles handed Alvord their first District 9-2A setback Monday, 12-0.

Brock’s Krysten Marr shut out the Lady Bulldogs, scattering six hits. Brittany Gayler had a pair of singles for Alvord.

Brock scored five runs in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead. The Lady Eagles plated five more in the top of the sixth.

ARCHER CITY 4, BRIDGEPORT 3
BRIDGEPORT 9, GUNTER 6

The Bridgeport Sissies dropped two of their three games over the weekend at the Bowie Tournament.

Nocona used an eight-run second to get past the Sissies, 9-7.

Cheyenne Davidson, Kensley Turner and Shiloh Weirich collected RBIs for Bridgeport. Turner went 2-for-2.

Archer City scored two runs in the fifth to edge Bridgeport 4-3.

Diana Garcia hit a two-run homer in the third for the Sissies.

Bridgeport ended the tournament with a 9-6 win over Gunter.

Davidson doubled and drove in four runs. Garcia tripled and had a RBI.

BOWIE 5, DECATUR 3
DECATUR 4, PERRIN-WHITT 2

The Decatur Lady Eagles went 2-2 at the Bowie Tournament, including a 4-2 win over Perrin-Whitt.

Brittany Roberts drove in two in the win over Perrin-Whitt.

In a 5-3 loss to Bowie, Kristina Pishotta doubled and drove in two.

Pishotta also had three hits in the Lady Eagles’ 15-5 win over the Bowie JV.

PARADISE 17, MILLSAP 2
PETROLIA 13, PARADISE 3

The Paradise Lady Panthers finished 3-1 at the Bowie Tournament over the weekend.

Petrolia beat the Lady Panthers 13-3 in the final on six hits and 10 Paradise errors.

Reagan Taylor doubled and tripled in the loss.

In a 17-2 win over Millsap Friday in 9-2A action, Taylor went 3-for-3 and knocked in five runs with a pair of doubles.

NORTHWEST 16, HALTOM 0

The Northwest Lady Texans pounded out 22 hits in a 16-0 victory over Haltom Friday.

Catherine Totty held Haltom scoreless on two hits over five innings with eight strikeouts.

Sydnee Hinkle homered, doubled and drove in four runs.
