Softball Roundup: Arlington leads Boyd past Argyle

Chelsea Arlington belted her fourth home run of the season and drove in five runs in the Boyd Lady Yellowjackets’ 10-4 win over Argyle Thursday at the Denton Tournament.

Arlington, who brought her season RBI total to 30, also picked up the win in the circle, holding Argyle to four runs on four hits. She struck out three and walked three.

Boyd pounded out nine hits and scored three in the first, two in the third and five in the fourth.

Brittney Howard went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI. Amber Brown added two hits and drove in a run.

BOWIE 11, BRIDGEPORT 2

Bowie pushed across four runs in the first inning on its way to an 11-2 victory Tuesday over the Bridgeport Sissies.

The loss ended the Sissies’ four-game winning streak to start the season.

Bridgeport committed seven errors in the field leading to seven unearned runs. Pitcher Hailey Hollingsworth allowed four earned runs on 12 hits. She struck out seven and walked five.

Hollingsworth knocked in the Sissies’ two runs, going 1-for-4.

WINDTHORST 10, DECATUR 5

Windthorst doubled up Decatur Tuesday, 10-5.

The Lady Eagles finished with seven hits. Kelsie Roberts had three and Christina Pischota two. Britt Roberts doubled.

KELLER 12, NORTHWEST 9

Keller scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth Tuesday to knock off the Northwest Lady Texans in the District 4-5A opener.

Northwest scored four in the top of the sixth, including Brianna Barnhill’s RBI double, to take a 9-7 lead. Barnhill finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Tuesday DerMargosian went 4-for-4 and scored three runs. Catherine Totty drove in three runs on two doubles.

Totty took the loss, allowing 12 runs – seven earned – on 15 hits in five and two-thirds. She struck out four and walked four.

The Lady Texans bounced back with an 11-7 win over Rockwall Heath Thursday in the opening game of the Frisco Tournament.

Northwest piled up 21 hits with four each from DerMargosian and Barnhill. Both drove in two.

Barhill hit a hit a two-run homer in the first as a part of a six-run inning for the Lady Texans.
