Going on the road to start the season, the Bridgeport Sissies fell to Burkburnett in three games Monday.

Burkburnett beat the Sissies, who were without their leading returning offensive player, Jessica White, 25-16, 25-22, 25-22.

Nevertheless, Bridgeport coach Rebekah Cummings was encouraged by her young team’s showing.

“They played with more energy than they did over the weekend [in scrimmages] but we struggled to finish games,” Cummings said. “We are starting to settle in, which is promising.”

Kensley Turner put down eight kills and made eight digs. Ally Raby added seven kills to go along with six assists.

Ryhan Read handed out 11 assists and made four digs. She served two aces.

Sadie White netted two aces and made a pair of blocks.
