Decatur’s Inez McDaniel will get the opportunity to continue her softball career at the next level.
McDaniel last week signed on to play at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus.
“When my dad and I went on a visit, it felt like home,” McDaniel said. “It’s in the middle of a cotton field.
“This means a lot to me. I’ve worked really hard since I was young, playing every summer.”
McDaniel batted .166 for the Decatur Lady Eagles, scoring three runs and stealing two bases. She sported a fielding percentage of .750.
She is hoping to step in and challenge for a spot in the outfield.
“They lose seven girls off this year’s team,” McDaniel said.
Former Chico standout Malori Moss is one of the departing sophomores.
McDaniel said she will need to put in some hard work before arriving at the two-year school.
“I’ve got to work harder and prepare myself to do what I thought I could never do,” McDaniel said.
