“I think my kids got complacent,” said Decatur coach Carly Cloud. “We were getting runners on base, but were not able to run them home and score them.”

The Lady Rangers took the lead early on, taking advantage of a struggling Decatur defense, scoring runs in the first and second innings.

“We were having trouble finding the umpire’s zone, so there were a couple walks early on,” Cloud said.

Lone Star exploded in the third, scoring four runs and increasing the lead 6-0. Decatur was able to stem the bleeding, scoring three runs of their own, but the offensive outburst didn’t last.

Two more Lady Ranger runners scored in the fourth, making it 8-3.

Decatur’s Jenny Bradford had two hits and two RBIs. Kelsie Roberts got two hits as did Kristina Pischotta and Jordan Smith. Val Thompson had a lone hit.

Decatur played the Lady Rangers again Friday night.
