Lady Panthers pull away from Millsap

By Richard Greene | Published Saturday, January 25, 2014

The Paradise Lady Panthers shook off a sluggish first half to take down the Millsap Lady Bulldogs and maintain their hold on second place in District 9-2A.

Makenna Burt finished with 15 points, and Makala Neighbors added 14 in a 57-31 victory over Millsap.

Paradise (20-5) moved to 7-2 in 9-2A and inched closer to locking down its fourth playoff berth since 1997.

Paradise led 24-20 at halftime before coming to life in the second half with a 33-11 closing run.

“We didn’t shoot well, and Makala and Makenna got in foul trouble in the first half,” said Paradise coach Kevin Pope. “In the second half, we put in some good shots and ended up winning going away.”

Paradise was off Friday and will return to play Tuesday against Ponder.
