Daniel Garcia’s single to right-center field drove home Dalton Hudson in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday to lift the Bridgeport Bulls to a 5-4 victory over the Graham Steers.
Garcia’s RBI single was part of a two-run rally in the final inning that gave the Bulls (4-12) a victory heading into District 9-3A play.
“We did a great job coming back after losing the lead in the top of the seventh on a two-run home run,” said Bridgeport coach Ted Leps. “I am proud of the players for coming back and getting the victory.”
Alex Samples picked up the win in relief, pitching two innings and allowing two runs on three hits.
Starter James Gray worked five innings, holding Graham to two runs – one earned – on three hits with four strikeouts.
Leps credited Gray with keeping Graham hitters off balance. He also noted the play of Lane Morrow in center field.
Erik Delgadillo drove in two runs on a single during a three-run second inning that gave Bridgeport a 3-1 lead. Graham scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead.
Brideport tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on Alex Samples’ bases-loaded walk, the at-bat before Garcia’s game-winning hit.
