Decatur High School Athletic Director and head football coach Mike Fuller is moving closer to completing his coaching staff.

He has added defensive coordinator Tony Roth, offensive coordinator Brian Blair and receivers coach Ty Lang. He plans to take three more coaches to the school board for approval Monday.

“I feel good about the staff,” Fuller said Thursday. “I’ve still got one more spot to fill.”

Fuller is retaining four high school football coaches from his predecessor Kyle Story’s staff – defensive line coach Jack Reeves, running backs coach Jim Cain, offensive line coach Scott Warner and trainer Fernando Escobar.

Roth, Blair and Lang were with Fuller at Colleyville Heritage.

“It feels great that guys I’ve been working with wanted to come with me,” Fuller said. “They are great with kids and are really hard workers.”

He added that it will help him implement new systems on both sides of the ball faster. Roth is already on the job.

“It’s a huge advantage. When I went to Colleyville in 2007, I was only able to take one guy with me,” Fuller said. “They can let other guys know what I expect and what I’m taking about.”
