Decatur’s Destiny Whitworth and Alexis Simmons booked trips to Corpus Christi and the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association state meet over the weekend.
Whitworth won the 220-plus pound division at the Region 6 Division 2 meet, lifting 925 pounds. She was 50 pounds better than second place with her squat of 395, bench press of 190 and deadlift of 340.
Simmons captured second place in the 114-pound class, lifting 550. She recorded a squat of 215, bench press of 85 and deadlift of 250.
Kirstin Nanny will be an alternate at state after taking third at regionals in the 123-pound class. She tallied 630 pounds.
Dakota Byrd took fourth in the 93-pound class with 410 pounds.
Decatur placed fourth out of 19 teams at the meet.
