Decatur (23-5) will open the playoffs next week against the fourth-place team out of District 10-3A.

Paul Walker scored 21, and Philip Walker finished with 12 against Krum. Cain Lowe tossed in 13.

Decatur broke the game open with a 19-10 run in the second quarter to build a 33-18 lead. The Eagles then closed the game with a 29-point fourth quarter.

The win over Krum followed a 68-51 victory over Gainesville Friday that secured the 9-3A title for the Eagles. It was the final home game for Decatur’s seven seniors.

“It was a big night for our seniors,” said Decatur coach Drew Coffman. “It’s definitely sad to lose them.”

Philip Walker led the Eagles with 26 points. Paul Walker added 12 points, and Austin Givens 10.

Decatur led 36-28 at halftime. Gainesville stayed within 10, 51-41, heading into the fourth quarter. Decatur closed the game on a 17-10 run.

“We made a couple of stops and held them to 10 points in the fourth quarter,” Coffman said. “The key for us is digging in on the defensive end and making stops.”
