Isaac Davis raised the bar again for himself Friday.
The Slidell guard tossed in a career-high 39 points, leading the Greyhounds to an 87-53 victory over Forestburg on homecoming night.
“I didn’t realize he had 39 until after when I looked at the book,” said Slidell coach Todd McCormick. “That’s a lot of points.”
Davis entered the game averaging 19.3. His previous career high was 34.
To go along with his 39 points, Davis grabbed 11 boards and dished out seven assists.
Colton Perkins added 19 for the Greyhounds, and Tyler Maynard 10.
Slidell jumped out to a 21-6 lead and never let up. The Greyhounds tossed in 28 in the final eight minutes.
“We got out to a quick start and ran from there,” McCormick said.
Slidell (20-6) moved to 7-1 in District 21-A Division II. The Greyhounds took on Saint Jo Tuesday before their showdown Friday with district leader Bellevue.
“We need to win (Friday) to force a tie,” McCormick said. “It’s going to be a tight game. I feel better that it’s at home. We’ll still have to play well.”
