The Bridgeport Bulls are back in the playoffs.
The Bulls knocked off Krum Friday 66-51 to secure the fourth playoff spot out of District 9-3A.
“Watching those guys celebrate was great,” said Bridgeport coach Alan Green. “Our crowd was fantastic. The student section was loud and created a great atmosphere.”
Alex Samples paced the Bulls, pouring in 28 points in his final home game. He hit five 3-pointers and 13 free throws.
“He hit two 3s with four minutes to go to put the game out of reach,” Green said. “Our four seniors – Samples, Derrick Stanford, Dalton Hudson and Stephen Howdeshell – have been through some tough times but never quit. They got the win when they needed it.”
Bridgeport led 27-24 at halftime as Krum played it tight. Krum cut the Bridgeport lead to 39-37, going into the fourth quarter. The Bulls ended the game with a 27-point fourth quarter to win going away.
Stanford scored 12 points. Hudson added 11. Howdeshell finished with nine.
