Boyd hammers Decatur

{{{*}}}The Boyd Lady Yellowjackets’ offensive tear to start the season continued Monday.

The Lady Yellowjackets pounded out 17 hits in an 11-2 thumping of the Decatur Lady Eagles.

Through six games, Boyd (6-0) is hitting .547 as a team with 84 runs and 93 hits. Eight batters are hitting better than .500. Chelsea Arlington already has three homers and 19 RBIs.

Arlington hit her third long ball Monday and drove in another four runs. She went 3-for-5 with a double.

Savannah Foster picked up three RBIs on three hits. Brittney Howard drove in two, going 4-for-5.

Boyd broke the open with a five-run top of the seventh.

Arlington picked up the win in the circle, allowing two runs – one earned – on five hits. She struck out one and walked two.

The win over Decatur followed a run to the championship of the Castleberry Tournament for Boyd. The Lady Yellowjackets went 5-0 at the event.

Boyd finished the tournament with a 9-2 win over Western Hills. Foster doubled twice and scored twice. Gabby Saldivar and Chandler Hammons collected two RBIs each.
