Baseball Roundup: Eagles pound Leopards to improve to 4-1 in loop

Austin Givens drove in a pair of runs with a double as part of a seven-run third inning for the Decatur Eagles Friday in a 12-1 victory over Gainesville.

The Eagles (11-10-2) moved to 4-1 in District 9-3A with the victory.

Nick Trachta went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and double. Drew Edwards also had three hits.

Clayton Egle tossed a complete game, allowing a run on seven hits. He struck out six.

NORTHWEST 4, KELLER 3

Cayde Ward knocked in Alex Perez with a single in the bottom of the seventh Friday to give the Northwest Texans a 4-3 walk-off victory over Keller.

Ward drove in two runs, going 3-for-4.

Northwest’s Dustin May and Tristen DerMargosian held Keller to three runs on eight hits over seven innings.

May struck out four in his five and one-thirds of work. DerMargosian pitched one and two-thirds of scoreless relief.

CHICO 11, OLNEY 4

Brady North went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs as the Chico Dragons moved to 7-1 in District 9-A with an 11-4 victory over Olney Friday.

Marshall Anderle added two hits and a RBI. Kalan Johnson doubled for the Dragons’ lone extra-base hit.

Tyler Melton struck out five and limited Olney to five hits over seven innings.

PONDER 9, BOYD 0

Ponder’s Collin Knight held the Boyd Yellowjackets scoreless on four hits Friday in a 9-0 victory.

Anthony Spinelli had a pair of singles for Boyd.
