Volunteers make Sonflower Camp special

By Andrea Duwe and Elaine Huff | Published Wednesday, July 9, 2014

Thank you again to every single, beloved soul who participated in Sonflower Camp for Kids with Disabilities.

We had more than 100 campers and 200-plus volunteers. With that many volunteers, I cannot begin to list you all, nor do you have any desire to be listed.

From the churches, youth ministers, businesses, financial donors, the lady with the BIG hat who rounded up extra money for T-shirts, the lady who gave up a night’s sleep to crank out the T-shirts, those special folks who provided and drove the train, the folks who brought or loaned their animals for the petting zoo, the jump house friends, the first responders, the photographers, the cowboys that provided the hayrides, the world travelers and performers, yodelers, persevering spouses, the “YES!” men and women, prayer partners, food providers who planned so carefully and wouldn’t miss serving at Sonflower Camp for anything, people who have come to camp since its inception in 1999, old and new friends!

You see what I mean? This list goes on and on, on and on. You know who you are – thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

“Above and beyond” is Sonflower Camp’s motto. The extra mile award goes to you all! God bless you all, and see you at Sonflower Camp 2015.

With love and thanksgiving,
Andrea Duwe and Elaine Huff
