I would like to be labeled by those who know me best as a true member of the Christian persuasion who has made many mistakes down the road of life, which prevents any degree of self-righteousness; however, after a period of repentance, I realize that that morality and virtue are the bedrock upon which good character is built.
The responsibility for transmitting these principles to their children was assumed by my parents, a loving mother and father who believed it to be their sacred duty. I still rate my parents as the best in the world, and I realize there are many others who feel the same way about their parents. The good family is the pillar of a great society.
Historians have concluded that all civilizations are destined to fall – some from within, some from without. In 1834, Abraham Lincoln believed that if the United States of America ever fell, it would be from within, meaning that only national suicide could be our fate. Some believe we are at this juncture.
Is there a place of turning back? Can the family be restored? What happens to pensions and other entitlements when the finances disappear? Our media continues to make us aware of the train wreck coming. Our politicians continue to act as if there will never be a day of reckoning, and the voters are eager to jump on the train.
Who would have dreamed that a person elected to Congress would advocate passing a healthcare law before reading and studying it? Yet this happened in the good old U.S.A. Now they (the politicians) are hearing train whistles, but the majority of the electorate are without a clue.
Some believe America is doomed to follow the path that led to the downfall of the Roman Empire. Others believe in another Great Awakening of a spiritual nature which will save America.
Ralph Reed of the Faith and Freedom Coalition believes a spiritual awakening is coming if the believers will make the proper preparations. His forthcoming book is Awakening: How America Can Turn From Economic and Moral Destruction Back to Greatness. All lovers of freedom will get a fresh spiritual charge from reading this book.
I hope I can continue to await my time with prayer and patience until the Grand Architect leads me home.
