About 7:45 p.m. a Chevrolet pickup, driven by Eric Gage, 19, of Decatur pulled onto Farm Road 51 South from a parking lot just south of Casa Torres.

According to Decatur Police officer Royce Gastineau, Gage was attempting to turn left and travel northbound when his vehicle was hit by a southbound Toyota Camry driven by Charles Knupp, 24, also of Decatur.

Knupp and his passenger had just picked up a to-go order and pulled out from the Casa Torres parking lot.

No one was injured in the accident, but Knupp’s food spilled across the inside of his car.

“That was salsa all over the dash, not blood,” Gastineau said.

Gage’s parents, Brent and Clyde’ette, gave Knupp cash to cover the cost of his meal.

The southbound lanes of 51 were shut down for about 45 minutes. Decatur Fire Department and a sheriff’s deputy were also on scene.
